DENVER – The [11/14] University of Denver men's lacrosse team fell to [17/17] Georgetown 12-9 in the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Championship Game, presented by Jeep, on Saturday afternoon at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Sophomore midfield
Jack Hannah (Milford, Ohio) led the Pioneers with five points, starting in Denver's second midfield before bumping up to the first midfield in the second half. The hat trick for Hannah was the second of his career and the five points is a career high for the Denver sophomore, who was one of three Pioneers named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

Matt Neufeldt (Naperville, Ill.) and junior attack
Ethan Walker (Peterborough, Ontario). Neufeldt picked up four ground balls and caused four turnovers, bringing his total for the tournament to 13 and nine, respectively. Walker added a goal and an assist to his four-point Thursday night.
Senior
Quinn McKone (Novato, Calif.) and freshman
Alex Simmons (Smithville, Ontario) were the other two multi-goal scorers for the Pioneers. Senior
Austin French (Danville, Calif.) had a three point game in his final contest at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, scoring a goal and adding two assists.
Georgetown opened the game on a 6-1 run in the first quarter, a stretch that included goals from five different goal scorers for the Hoyas. Simmons had the lone goal for Denver in the run, diving across the crease off a feed from Hannah. Senior
Austin French (Danville, Calif.) scored the final goal of the first quarter to pull Denver back to within four at 6-2.
Hannah scored the only goal of the second quarter for Denver on the man-up, but Lucas Wittenberg answered for the Hoyas to close out the scoring in a two-goal second quarter. Goalie Chris Brandau made eight saves in the opening 30 minutes.
Denver raced out to a 3-0 run in the first 8:37 of the third quarter with goals from Hannah, Walker and McKone. Jake Carraway put an end to the run for the Hoyas to make it 8-6 after three quarters of play.
Georgetown scored four of the seven goals in the fourth quarter to take home its second-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament title. Freshman
Johnny Marrocco (Cincinnati, Ohio), McKone and Simmons scored the Denver goals in the final frame. Brandau finished with 15 saves in the victory.
