Cody Cranor to Join Summit League Staff

Cranor heads to Sioux Falls after four years with the Crimson and Gold

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Summit League/DU) – Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple announced Tuesday the hiring of University of Denver Associate AD for Compliance and Student-Athlete Support Services Cody Cranor as the associate commissioner of governance and compliance at the league office.

Cranor, who will begin his new role on Monday, June 24, will oversee all aspects of the NCAA compliance program within the league and serve as the primary compliance liaison with member institutions.

"Cody has a wide variety of experiences, including an extensive law background, that will be a great benefit to our membership," Douple said. "Plus, he has a strong familiarity with the league and how we operate. All of that will lend to a smooth transition and we look forward to having him join our team here in Sioux Falls."

Cranor has spent the last four-plus years on the University of Denver campus where he started as the assistant director of compliance in January of 2015 before quickly being promoted just a month later to his latest role.

"I am thrilled to be entering the next chapter of my career in college athletics at The Summit League," Cranor said. "I am grateful to Commissioner Douple and Deputy Commissioner (Myndee Kay) Larsen for this tremendous opportunity and I look forward to hitting the ground running and contributing to the continued growth and success of the league."

Prior to his time at DU, Cranor spent 18 months as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Southern New Hampshire University, which followed a two-year internship at Brigham Young University where he completed his law degree in April of 2013.

"On behalf of the University of Denver Division of Athletics and Recreation, I'd like to thank Cody for his time at DU, helping guide our athletics compliance program as we strive to compete at the highest level, while also doing things the right way," Director of Athletics Ron Grahame said. "Cody has been a tremendous asset to our coaches and staff during his four years in the Division. He is professional, articulate and always well prepared. We wish him and his family the best of luck in his new role with The Summit League office."

He earned a bachelor's degree (2008; Physical Education-Sport Management) and master's degree (2010; Athletic Administration) from Idaho State University. During his time in Pocatello, Cranor worked with the men's basketball program as a manager, student assistant coach and assistant video coordinator. He served as a graduate teaching assistant during his postgraduate time on campus in ISU's Department of Sport Science and Physical Education.
