DU Retains Top-Five National Ranking

Denver ranked No. 5 overall; adds top-10 rankings on three events
DENVER – The University of Denver women's gymnastics team holds a top-five national ranking for the fourth-consecutive week, sitting at No. 5 in the Road to Nationals rankings released on Monday.
Denver tied for second at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday, moving its season average to 196.819, which is just .006 out of the No. 4 spot in the rankings. It is also the highest average through the first four weeks of the season in program history by more than five tenths (196.267 in 2019).
The bars and beam squads are once again ranked inside the top five nationally. After scoring the second-highest bars score in program history (49.500), Denver is tied for No. 3 in the nation on the event with a 49.375 average. DU also retained its No. 4 ranking on beam (49.250).
DU returns to the top 10 on vault, moving up to No. 9 (49.094). On floor, Denver is tied for No. 15 (49.100).
For the second week in a row, senior Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) and junior Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) are ranked No. 3 (39.625) and No. 4 (39.569), respectively, in the all-around.
The duo are ranked on multiple events as well, Brown on all four and Karr on three. Brown is No. 8 on floor (9.913), tied for No. 9 on bars (9.900), tied for No. 18 on vault (9.869) and No. 20 on beam (9.887).
Karr is tied for No. 4 on bars (9.938), tied for No. 6 on vault (9.894) and No. 14 on beam (9.906).
Sophomore Alexis Vasquez (Arcadia, Calif.) is still ranked in the top 10 on beam, sitting at No. 9 (9.919).
The University of Denver gymnastics team, presented by Your Hometown Toyota Stores, returns to Magness Arena on Sunday, February 2, at 2 p.m. against Air Force and Ball State.
