VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of Denver women's basketball team fell 104-61 to No. 22 South Dakota on Sunday afternoon in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. The Pioneers drop to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in league play this season.
Junior
Alexius Foster led the Pioneers with a career-high 17 points in a career-high 23 minutes of action. The junior forward shot 6-of-9 from the field and 71.4 (5-of-7) percent from behind the arc.
Foster hit half of Denver's 10 3s, the second time this season they have made double-digit 3s with the last coming against Cal Poly on Nov. 17.
Redshirt junior
Briana Johnson added eight points, five rebounds, and four assists in the loss.
South Dakota used a 57.1 percent shooting from the field first quarter to jump out to a 30-18 lead after the opening 10 minutes, eventually taking a 59-32 lead to the half.
After shooting over 40 percent from the field and behind the arc in the arc in the second half, the Coyotes went on to earn the win.
