Air Force Sneaks Past Denver Late

Jackson records second double-double of year in loss

DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball lost in a thriller, 82-79 to Air Force on Sunday In Hamilton Gymnasium.

Significant Stats:
- Anna Jackson recorded her second collegiate double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
- Meghan Boyd had a team-high 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the loss.
- Denver made eight 3s in the game, its eighth straight game with at least seven.

Inside the Box Score:
- The Crimson and Gold went 26-for-52 (50 percent) from the field, a new season high.
- Pioneers had five players in double figures, first time this year.
- Claire Gritt had a season-high 10 points in 29 minutes.
 
Turning Point:
A layup from the Falcons' Riley Snyder to go ahead for good with 32 seconds remaining in regulation.
 
As it Happened:
First Quarter:
Denver got off to a good start, taking a 26-20 lead through one after a fast-paced 10 minutes. The Crimson and Gold were 7-for-11 in the quarter with Boyd getting going early.
 
Second Quarter:
Both teams traded baskets in the second, with Air Force narrowly taking the quarter, 19-18. DU, though, held a five-point edge at the half, 44-39.
 
Third Quarter:
A stellar shooting performance from deep highlighted the opening 10 minutes of the second half, with Denver going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc, holding off the Falcons to retain a five-point lead, 64-59.
 
Fourth Quarter:
Air Force made its move in the final quarter, using some pressure defense to force turnovers and get points in transition to take control of the game. The Falcons closed the game with a 17-10 run the final 7:43.
 
Up Next:
DU (2-6) opens Summit League play with a trip to Vermillion, S.D. to face South Dakota on Jan. 2.
