Last Time Out
Carter Savoie's power-play goal with 2:02 remaining in regulation broke 18:23 of a 2-2 tie to give the Pioneers their first win of the season with a 3-2 upset against No. 1 North Dakota on Tuesday in the NCHC Pod. 

Series History
Denver is 19-12-3 all-time against Miami and is on a five-game winning streak against the RedHawks after taking all four games last season. Denver is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games against Miami.

Last Meeting
The Pioneers beat the RedHawks 7-0 and 7-3 on Feb. 21 & Feb. 22 in Magness Arena. Cole Guttman had three goals and three assists on the weekend.

What's Next
The Pioneers will have their final meeting of the regular season against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday morning. Puck drop is set for 11:05 a.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on Altitude and ESPN Denver 1600.

  • Carter Savoie is the first DU freshman to score in the first four games of his college career. George Morrison was the last Pioneer to do it in his first year in the NCAA in 1968, though Morrison was a sophomore as 1970-71 was the first season freshmen were allowed to play at DU
  • Savoie is tied for 1st in the NCAA in goals per game (1.25) and leads the NCAA outright in power-play goals (4) 
  • Then-No. 4 Denver played No. 3 Minnesota Duluth, No. 1 North Dakota and St. Cloud State in its first three games of the NCHC Pod. After the first week of play, Minnesota Duluth and North Dakota retained their rankings while St. Cloud State rose from receiving votes to No. 13 
  • Denver has led in every game this season. In their 0-3-0 start to the year, the Pioneers led Minnesota Duluth 1-0 until 13:04 of the third period, North Dakota 2-1 until 13:03 of the third period and St. Cloud State 2-1 until 4:23 of the second period
  • The Pioneers have scored twice on the power play in each of their last three games. Carter Savoie, Mike Benning and Kohen Olischefski have been on the ice for five of the six goals. Bobby Brink has been on the ice for four of the goals, while McKade Webster and Cole Guttman have been on the ice for three each
  • Carter Savoie (Dec. 2) & McKade Webster (Dec. 8) have scored their first NCAA goals
  • Mike Benning (Dec. 4) & Antti Tuomisto (Dec. 8) have recorded their first NCAA assists
  • Five freshmen made their NCAA debuts on Dec. 2: Savoie, Webster, Benning, Tuomisto & Connor Caponi
  • Bobby Brink (U.S.) has joined the U.S. camp in Plymouth, Mich. for the IIHF World Junior Championship to be played in Red Deer, Alberta from Dec. 25 - Jan. 5. The U.S.' 29-player preliminary roster was announced on Nov. 27. The final 25-player U.S. roster will be announced on Dec. 13 prior to the U.S. team departing for Edmonton
