[10/9] Pioneers Set To Face Louisville Saturday

DENVER – The [10/9] University of Denver women's lacrosse team is set to hit the road this weekend to take on Louisville on Saturday afternoon (10 AM MT). The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
  • The Cardinals were tabbed for an eighth-place finish in the ACC Preseason Poll
  • Junior midfielder and team captain Caroline Blalock was named Preseason All-ACC
  • The Cardinals enter Saturday sitting at 1-0 following a 16-11 season opener win over Cincinnati
  • In the Cardinals' first outing, junior Ally Hall led the team with four goals while freshman Allegra Catalano and sophomore Hannah Morris both recorded hat tricks. Defensively, redshirt junior Rachel Florek led the Louisville defense recording nine saves in goal
  • Louisville recorded 23 caused turnovers in its win over the Bearcats with 12 different Cardinals recording at least one
2019 RECORD BREAKERS
  • The Pioneers will look to build on their record breaking 2019 season after reaching their first-ever NCAA quarterfinal in program history
  • The Pioneers fell to the eventual National Champion, Maryland Terrapins 17-8 to end their season
  • Denver placed five on the West/Midwest All-Region team, the most in program history
  • The Pioneers lost 10 seniors, including All-America selection and BIG EAST Defender of the Year, Kate Fischer

  • The Pioneers are a combined 20-4 at home the past two seasons and 1-0 in their 2020 campaign
 PIONEERS IN THE POLLS                                    
  • The Pioneers moved up one spot to No. 9 in the Inside Lacrosse media Poll and two spots to No. 11 in the USL/Nike DI poll
  • Denver remains at No. 10 in the IWLCA coaches poll
  • DU was tabbed for a first-place finish in the BIG EAST following a vote of its six head coaches
SMOOTH SEASON OPENER                           
  • The Pioneers opened their 2020 campaign with a 17-13 victory over then No. 20/RV Stanford
  • Offensively, DU recorded 17 goals, six assists and a shot percentage of .486, with 25 shots on Defensively, Denver caused 13 Cardinal turnovers and Carson Gregg made 14 saves on 31 shots target
  • Denver came out strong in the first frame of their 17-13 victory, using a 6-1 run to jump out to a 12-5 lead in the opening 30 minutes of play
FRESHMEN STANDOUTS                         
  • Ellie Curry and Julia Gilbert scored their first collegiate goals in Denver's win over Stanford
  • Sam Thacker made a name for herself defensively in her collegiate debut, leading the Pioneers with four ground balls and adding two caused turnovers
HAT TRICKS                      
  • Quintin Hoch-Bullen scored her third goal of the game on Feb. 8th vs. Stanford to lock in her first hat trick of the season with 2:26 left in the first half. She scored twice more in the second half, leading the Pioneers with five goals in the game
  • Hannah Liddy and Bea Behrins each recorded their first hat tricks of the season on Feb. 8th against Stanford

CAREER HIGHS FOR HACKE AND WISEMAN                
  • Eliza Hacke recorded a career high of four caused turnovers and one draw control in the Pioneer win on Feb. 8th vs Stanford. The Defenseman also added two ground balls
  • Caroline Wiseman snatched three career highs on Feb. 8th vs. Stanford, recording four points stemming from two goals and two assists
