Brink & Chrona Named to NCHC All-Rookie Team

DENVER – Freshmen Bobby Brink and Magnus Chrona of the No. 6 Denver Pioneers hockey team (21-9-6, 11-8-5-4) have been named to the NCHC All-Rookie Team, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Brink was one of two unanimous selections for the team with 15 first-place votes. In his freshman season, the Minnetonka, Minn. native finished second in NCHC rookie scoring with 11 goals and 13 assists in 28 games. On the power play, Brink paced conference freshmen with 13 power-play points on six goals and seven assists. Brink had 77 shots, the second-most among NCHC freshmen, and finished the regular season with a +1 rating. He was selected 34th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Chrona posted a 16-6-4 record in the regular season and ranks 3rd among NCAA freshmen in GAA (2.15), save percentage (.920) and wins (16) to pair with two shutouts. His GAA ranked second among all NCHC goalies, while his save percentage paced all conference netminders. The Stockholm, Sweden native and Tampa Bay Lightning prospect received the third-most points in All-Rookie voting.

Denver and Western Michigan were the only teams with two selections on the All-Rookie Team. Voting was conducted by the eight head coaches and eight selected media members from each member school. A first-place vote was worth three points and a second-place vote was worth one.
