DENVER – The Denver Pioneers hockey team (20-9-5, NCHC 10-8-4-3) rose to 6^th in the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls, as released on Monday.
 
The Pioneers earned 728 points in the USCHO.com poll on a ballot submitted by 50 voters, including coaches, beat writers and sports professionals from across the country. Cornell ranked 1^st with 978 points and 37 first-place votes, while North Dakota took 2^nd with 957 points and 11 first-place votes and Minnesota State took 3^rd with 881 points and one first-place vote. Denver received 326 points in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll conducted in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) with input from coaches and members of the media from each of the six Division I college hockey conferences as well as officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey. Cornell took 1^st with 488 points and 19 first-place votes, while North Dakota ranked 2^nd with 485 points and 13 first-place votes and Minnesota State ranked 3^rd with 451 points and two first-place votes. The National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) had four teams ranked in the USCHO poll: North Dakota (2), Minnesota Duluth (5), Denver (6) and Western Michigan (17). The NCHC had four teams ranked in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll: North Dakota (1), Minnesota Duluth (5), Denver (6) and Western Michigan (15).
