DENVER – The University of Denver hockey program's student-athletes have received several academic honors this week from both the American Hockey Coaches' Association (AHCA) and the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
On Tuesday, juniors
Devin Cooley, Jack Doremus and
Jake Durflinger and seniors
Erich Fear and
Tyson McLellan were named 2019-20 AHCA All-American Scholars. McLellan earned the award for the second time in his career, while Fear received the honor for the third time. To garner All-American Scholar distinction from the AHCA, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.75 grade-point average during the fall semester of the 2019-20 academic year and participated in at least 40 percent of their team's games this past season.
In February, 18 Denver returning/upperclassmen student-athletes were named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and eight earned NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete status. On Wednesday, the NCHC announced transfers/freshman additions to the academic list. Denver's full list of Academic All-Conference team selections is below, with Distinguished Scholar Athletes in
