Boe Delivers Gem in Pio Win over Jacks

Plymouth, Minn. native powers efficient night for Denver

DENVER – University of Denver middle blocker Tina Boe continued her stellar play on Thursday, leading the Pioneers to a straight-sets victory (25-11, 25-22, 25-19) over South Dakota State. DU improved to 15-2 (6-1 SL) with the win.

Inside the Box Score
  • Boe led the attack with a match-high 11 kills, her fourth time in the last six matches in double figures.
  • Lydia Bartalo recorded six aces on the evening.
  • Erica Andrich added eight kills.
Significant Stats
  • The Pioneers' 15-2 start to the year is their best since 2018.
  • DU now has a home record of 104-9 since 2014.
  • The Crimson and Gold are now 10-0 this year when recording at least .300 hitting percentage.  
Turning Point
A 5-2 run to close out the second set and take a 2-0 advantage in the match

1st Set
Denver made its move right from the start, taking a 10-3 run early, highlighted by multiple aces by Bartalo. The Pioneers pushed that lead to double digits and never looked back, cruising to a 25-11 set victory.

2nd Set
DU used a big run midway through the second set to fight itself back into the set, taking the lead at 17-17 after an attack error by the Jackrabbits. Denver picked up the next two but SDSU tied it at 20-20. The Pioneers, though, showed up and delivered in the clutch, using a 5-2 run to close out the set to take a commanding 2-0 lead.

3rd Set
Both teams traded points to start the set. South Dakota State got up 12-10 but Denver reeled the lead back to 12-12 after an attack error from the Jackrabbits. The Pioneers went up 16-15 after a big kill from Hailey Green, part of a 7-0 run. DU sealed the match on a kill from Brianna Green.

The Pioneers (15-2, 6-1 SL) wraps up the weekend with a highly-anticipated matchup against South Dakota. First serve is set for 1 p.m. MT in Hamilton Gymnasium and can be seen on Pioneer Vision.
