Denver Hosts South Dakota to Begin Regular Season’s Final Weekend

The Pioneers are five points clear at the top of the Summit League table with two matches to play

DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer team will kickoff its final weekend of the regular season when the Pioneers host South Dakota on Friday at 6 p.m. MT.

Denver vs. South Dakota History:

Denver is 9-1-0 all-time against South Dakota, winning each of the last seven since a 4-1 loss in Vermillion in 2015. In the winning streak, Denver has outscored the Coyotes 11-2. This spring, Denver swept the season series at the Diane Wendt Sports Complex with a 2-1 extra time win in the series opener and a 1-0 win in the series finale. The Pioneers then beat South Dakota 2-0 in the Summit League Semifinal in Omaha.    
 
Notable Stats:
  • The Pioneers are 61-13-3 in the Summit League since joining the conference in 2013.
  • Denver has scored 48 goals from 15 different players to start the 2021 season. Sharp leads the way with 13 goals, followed by 10 from Glover.
  • The Pioneers 15 different goal scorers, the most in a season since the Pioneers school-record 18 different goal scorers in the 2006 campaign.
  • Career Points Record Update:
    • Beckman has 82 career points, good for sixth in Denver's Division I history
    • Feller has 81 career points, good for seventh.
    • Sharp has 55 career points, becoming the 18th student-athlete to 50 points in Denver's Division I history.
  • Career Assists Record Update
    • Beckman has 44 career assists, the program record.
    • Feller has 25 career assists, good for tied for sixth in Denver's DI history.
  • Career Goals Record Update
    • Feller has 28 career goals, good for eighth in Denver's DI history.
    • Sharp has 23 career goals, good for 11th in Denver's DI history
  • Career Games Played and Games Started Update
    • Brittney Lewis has the program record for matches played with 94.
    • Lewis is one start behind injured teammate Taylor Parker for the career record for starts made.
  • Single Season Goals Record
    • Sharp's 13 goals on the season are four behind the single-season record held by Jenni Harris and Taryn Hemmings.
    • Sharp entered the week as the only player in the country to score in 13 different games and in eight-consecutive matches this season.  
  • Single Season Assists Record
    • Beckman has 15 assists on the season, tying Nicholette DiGiacomo's 2010 campaign for the program record.
  • Single Season Game-Winning Goals Record
    • Sharp's six game-winning goals is two behind Taryn Hemmings' eight in the 2008 season for the program record.
  • Head coach Jeff Hooker holds a record of 392-162-51 (.690) in his 30 seasons as the head coach of the Pioneers.
