DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer team got three goals from three different goal scorers in a 3-1 win over St. Thomas on Saturday night at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

Denver held St. Thomas to just one shot on goal on the evening, while outshooting the Tommies 11-7 and taking all four corner kicks on the night.
First Half:
Denver opened the scoring in the seventh minute on Stefan DeLeone's second goal of the campaign. Kengo Ohira setup the 1v1 with the keeper for his fellow forward, tracking back defensively before playing a ball over the top of the Tommies' defense to the run of DeLeone. DeLeone took his first touch around the charging goalkeeper, and the took a few more touches towards goal before passing his eighth career goal into the back of the open net.
The Pioneers doubled their lead just over 2.5 minutes later when Ben Smith netted his first career goal, banking his strike from outside the penalty area off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net. DeLeone setup Denver's second for his third point of the evening.
Denver outshot St. Thomas 5-4 in the opening 45 minutes and took the only three corner kicks of the first half.
Second Half:
Faris Colic pulled the visitors back to within one in the 47th minute, converting a feed from George Marty.
After conceding, Denver took back the run of play, and restored its two-goal advantage in the 70th minute through Lukas Fisher's fourth of the campaign. DeLeone was credited with the assist, playing a role in all three goals in the Pioneers third victory of Summit League play.
Up Next:
The Pioneers will return to the road on Monday night when the Pioneer travel to Virginia. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. MT, and the game will be broadcast on ACC Network Xtra.
