DENVER - University of Denver men's basketball head coach
Jeff Wulbrun announced the signing of Justin Mullins on Thursday. Mullins has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to continue his academic and athletic career for the Pioneers.
"I am so thrilled with the addition of Justin Mullins to our program at DU," Wulbrun said. "He is a perfect fit for our culture; an elite level student, who understands the value of a Denver degree. He leads his life by doing what is right, and wanted a situation where integrity and character were valued."
Mullins, an athletic 6-foot-5 shooting guard, has starred at Oak Park River Forest High School in Illinois. He was ranked as the No. 10 player in the state of Illinois by Chicagoland Prep Hoops and the No. 3 small forward by Prep Hoops Illinois.
He posted averages of 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists while shooting 56.0 percent from the field. Mullins was especially dangerous from beyond the arc, knocking down 3s at a 51.0 percent clip. The Oak Park, Ill., native also earned all-conference honors in 2020-21.
"He will be such a versatile player for us; a 6-5 wing with a long wingspan, athleticism, quickness and speed, he can guard four positions on the floor," Wulbrun said. "He is a consistent shooter from 3, a threat off the bounce and can finish above the rim, all while playing the game with the unselfishness we value. Justin will be a foundational component to our future success."
Denver returns to the hardwood for a meeting with Ottawa (Ariz.) on Friday night at 6 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium.
