SAN ANTONIO – The University of Denver men's basketball team couldn't overcome a cold-shooting night, falling late to UTSA, 78-64, in the Convocation Center on Tuesday. The Pioneers fell to 2-2 on the season with the loss.

Jordan Johnson poured in a season-high 19 points while handing out four assists, his third game in double figures this season.

KJ Hunt did a little bit of everything, scoring 14 points to go with five rebounds and six assists. Hunt has now scored in double figures in every game this year.

- Denver slipped to 0-2 on the year when trailing at the half.
- Pioneers allowed a season-high 78 points in the loss.
- The Crimson and Gold saw its three-game streak with at least nine steals snapped.
- The Pioneers made a season-most 10 3s in the win.

Turning Point:
A 12-0 run over a 3:30 stretch midway through the first half that resulted in UTSA going up for good at 28-23.
As it Happened:
First Half:
Denver opened with back-to-back 3s from Hunt and
Touko Tainamo. The Pioneers took a two-point lead into the first media timeout, 11-9. Hunt led the way in the opening minutes, scoring five points within the first five minutes. The lead grew to seven at 23-16 after Hunt found
Michael Henn for an open look from 3 at the top of the key, who made it for his first points of the game. UTSA used a 10-0 run to takes it first lead of the evening at 26-23 after a made 3 from Cedrick Alley at the 8:28 mark. The Roadrunners closed strong, knocking down a 3 with five seconds to go to take a seven-point edge into the break, 42-35.
Second Half:
UTSA opened the second half quick, going up double-digits at 48-38 on a layup from Jordan Ivy-Curry, his 19th point of the game. Denver closed the gap to seven points at 50-43 after a long made 3 from Johnson, giving him a season-high 13 points. The Pioneers found some outside shooting, using an 8-0 run to make it a two-possession game at 61-56 in favor of the Roadrunners with just under eight minutes left in regulation. But the Crimson and Gold couldn't any closer than that, as UTSA went on to separate late, taking it 78-64.
