DENVER – The University of Denver volleyball team couldn't hold off a hot Kansas City team on Thursday, falling 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 15-25, 22-25) in Hamilton Gymnasium. The loss dropped the Pioneers to 22-5 (13-4 Summit League) on the season.

- Lydia Bartalo picked up her eighth double-double of the season, finishing with 15 kills and 12 digs.
- Hailey Green added 11 kills, her seventh match this year in double figures.
- Tina Boe notched eight kills.

- DU dropped only its second match of the year in four sets.
- Denver fell to 107-11 at home since 2014.
- The Pioneers hit .197 in the match, only the fifth time this season hitting below .200.

1st Set
Denver got a hot start, powered by
Hailey Green getting three kills early. Kansas City used a 3-0 run to take an 11-7 lead, causing the Pioneers to take their first timeout of the day. DU closed to within two at 14-12 after an ace from
Lorrin Poulter. DU tied it at 21 on a powerful kill from Green, her fifth of the set. Denver completed the comeback, getting the final two kills to take it, 26-24.
2nd Set
Pioneers opened the set with a 5-2 run. A 5-0 run from KC put them in front at 10-9 after an attack error from DU. The Crimson and Gold tied things up at 15 on a kill from
Erica Andrich. Kansas City immediately countered with a 4-1 run go up 19-16, causing DU to take a timeout. The Roos closed it out from there, taking the set, 25-22.
3rd Set
The Roos went up 4-1 to start the set. Kansas City picked up a double-digit lead at 17-7 after a Melanie Brecka kill. KC kept up its strong play, taking the set 25-15.
4th Set
The set started with a 5-5 tie. Denver went up 12-10 after an attack error by Kansas City. The Roos climbed back into this one, tying it up at 18-18 after a kill from Bree Thompson. Kansas City took it from there, 25-22.

The Pioneers (22-5, 13-4 SL) close out the regular season with their final home match of the year on Saturday against Oral Roberts. First serve is set for 7 p.m. MT.
