DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team dropped an 81-51 contest to Wyoming in the final game of the Denver Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday inside Hamilton Gymnasium.
Inside The Box Score:
Meghan Boyd led the Pioneers with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Boyd added four rebounds, two assists and a block to her stat line.
Uju Ezeudu finished in double figures as well, going for 16, five rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes played.
Following her record setting performance last night,
Anna Jackson had seven points and a game-high eight rebounds in the loss.
Allyson Fertig and McKinley Bradshaw led the Cowgirls with 16 apiece.
First Quarter:
Wyoming raced out to an 11-2 lead, forcing three Denver turnovers in the early going. Boyd scored a pair of layups to keep Denver within a few possessions at the midway point of the first quarter.
The Cowgirls went on a 15-2 run in the final 4:53 to stretch out their first quarter lead to 28-11 after the opening 10 minutes.
Boyd led the Pioneers with six in the first 10 minutes, while Grace Ellis had nine in the first quarter on the other side, including five from the stripe. Wyoming shot a scorching 11-for-15 (73.3%) from the field.
Second Quarter:
The two teams played to a 6-6 opening five minutes of the second quarter that included four from
Uju Ezeudu.
Denver came out of the media timeout on a 6-0 run capped off by a pretty post move by
Cheyenne Forney to cut the Wyoming lead down to 11 with 2 minutes to play in the half. The Cowgirls responded with a 9-0 spurt of their own to push the lead back out to 20 at the half.
The Pioneers had five different players score in the second, while Bradshaw and Emily Mellema had five points apiece to lead the Cowgirls in the quarter.
Boyd had nine in the first half to lead the Pioneers in the opening 20 minutes.
Third Quarter
Ezeudu led the Pioneers with five in the third quarter and Jackson added a triple, but a 26-10 outburst from Wyoming in the quarter pushed the Cowgirls lead to 36 with 10 minutes to play.
Fourth Quarter:
Denver had an 18-12 advantage in the final 10 minutes, a quarter that saw Denver's two leading scorers Boyd and Ezeudu pour in seven apiece.
Notes:
- Meghan Boyd finished in double figures for the fourth game this season, the second-straight contest and the 31st time in her career.
- Uju Ezeudu finished in double figures for the fifth time this season and the 39th time in her career.

What's Next:
Denver will leave the state of Colorado for the first time next week when the Pioneers take on UC Santa Barbara on Thursday at 8 p.m. MT, followed by a clash with Cal Poly on Saturday at 3 p.m. MT. The UC Santa Barbara game will start another stretch of five games in an 11 day span.
