DENVER – The University of Denver Volleyball team wrapped up its two-match homestand on Saturday with a victory over North Dakota State (25-21, 25-22, 25- 17) in Hamilton Gymnasium. The Pioneers got the season sweep over the Bison with the win and improved to 21-3 (12-2 SL) on the year.
Inside the Box Score
- Hailey Green had a team-high nine kills.
- Tine Boe added eight kills.
- Ellie Anderson had her third double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.
- Brianna Green was efficient, recording seven kills on a .583 hitting percentage.
Significant Stats
- DU has now won the last 10 matches against the Bison.
- The Pioneers' 21-3 start to the year is their best since 2018.
- Denver is now 107-10 at home since 2014.
- The Pioneers won their second match of the year when hitting under .200.
- The Crimson and Gold improved to 19-0 this year when holding the opponent to under a .200 hitting percentage.
Turning Point
A 9-5 run to close the out the first set.
1st Set
Both teams started sluggish, but Denver was able to build a three-point advantage after a kill from
Ari Winters made it 8-5. North Dakota State made a mid-set run to close to within one at 14-13 after a service error from Boe. The Pioneers were able to take control of the set late, picking up the win at 25-21 after a kill from Boe.
2nd Set
Neither team found separation in the opening moments of the second, resulting in a 5-5 tie. The Bison went up three at 11-8 after an attack error from
Lydia Bartalo, resulting in a timeout from the Crimson and Gold. Denver answered immediately out of the timeout, scoring the next four straight points to take a lead at 12-11. With the set tied at 20-20, the Pioneers rose up to take the set 25-22.
3rd Set
Denver raced out to an 11-7 lead, highlighted by some big plays from
Brianna Green. The Pioneers used a mid-5-2 run to take a 20-16 lead, forcing NDSU to take a timeout. DU took it from there, winning 25-17.
