DENVER – Peter McNab, a University of Denver alum that played three seasons for the Pioneers from 1970-1973, was enshrined into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2021 on Thursday night during the induction ceremony at the Marriott Denver Tech Center hotel.
McNab helped the Pioneers to three top-four NCAA finishes and led Denver to a national runner-up finish in his final season in 1972-73. Named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, he also earned First-Team All-WCHA honors that year after a team-leading 72-point season that included 32 goals and 40 assists.
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, but grew up in San Diego, California, McNab averaged 1.61 points per game at DU and his 170 career points (78g/92) rank 10th-best in school history.
Drafted 85th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1972 NHL Entry Draft, McNab played parts of 14 seasons with the Sabres, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils. He had seven consecutive seasons with 70 or more points and six straight with 35 or more goals. The forward helped his teams to 10 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances, including a trip to the 1975 Stanley Cup Final with Buffalo. He ranks 19th among Americans in NHL history with 813 points (363g/450a) in 995 career regular-season games.
On the international stage, McNab played for Team USA at the 1986 IIHF World Championship.
McNab spent eight years as a color analyst on the New Jersey Devils broadcast after retiring from his playing career, and he has served as an analyst on the Colorado Avalanche television broadcast since the team moved to Denver in 1995. He will be entering his 26th season in that role with the Avs in 2021-22.

Stan Fischler and former Philadelphia Flyers player and executive
Paul Holmgren. The Class of 2020 was also enshrined at the event on Thursday after they weren't able to be celebrated last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 class included
Dean Blais,
Tony Granato,
Jenny Potter and
Jerry York.
McNab wasn't able to attend Thursday's ceremony as he wasn't feeling well, He was diagnosed with cancer earlier this fall.
