Denver and The Brandr Group Launch Group Licensing for Student-Athletes

The Brandr Group allows for collective use of student-athletes Name, Image and Likeness in licensing and marketing programs

DENVER (TBG)– The University of Denver and The Brandr Group (TBG) have established a group licensing agreement for the University's student-athletes covering all the Pioneers' 18 varsity sports. This partnership creates new opportunities for Denver's student-athletes to profit off their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) using the school's official trademarks and logos.

"We are excited about the beneficial impact this partnership with the Brandr Group will have on our student-athletes," Vice Chancellor for Athletics, Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations Karlton Creech said. "The Brandr Group will allow our student-athletes to benefit as a collective and give our fans the ability to purchase merchandise they haven't before had access to. They've had success with some of the top athletic programs in the country, and we look forward to seeing their model thrive in our department and on our campus."

The partnership with The Brandr Group allows for the collective use of student-athletes' NIL in licensing and marketing programs, co-branded with the Pioneers' logos and marks. Student-athletes will have the option to voluntarily join a group licensing program. TBG will facilitate group licensing opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, and the program does not limit individual NIL rights. Potential licensees interested in learning more should contact Kathleen Melvin at TBG.

"Schools that adapt to the changing landscape of college athletics are best positioned to offer lasting success for their student-athletes and greater engagement opportunities for their fans, and the University of Denver is one of those schools," said Rick Perko, Vice President of Program Development at TBG. "Through this group licensing agreement, Pioneer players will be able to benefit from their NIL through co-branded opportunities across Denver's vast merchandising and sponsorship portfolio. We're thrilled to be working closely with Denver athletics, creating an exciting, new program that supports their student-athletes and delivers for their dedicated fans."

Products that combine team logos and player names and numbers have accounted for a large portion of licensed sports merchandise sales at the professional level for decades, and this program opens the door for the same opportunities for student-athletes at the collegiate level.

TBG, a brand management, marketing and licensing agency, will manage and administer Denver's group licensing program as well as develop NIL opportunities on behalf of its student-athletes. With decades of collective management experience for some of the world's largest brands, TBG also manages the group rights program for the NFL, NBA and MLB players' associations in the college space.

Fans can expect to be able to purchase official Pioneer merchandise, including team jerseys, with the name and number of their favorite players who have joined the respective group licensing program once TBG enters into agreements with applicable school trademark licensees.
