SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of Denver men's basketball team couldn't shake off a rough afternoon on Sunday, losing to Texas State 71-58 at the Strahan Arena. The game is part of a six-game road trip for the Pioneers, their longest of the season.

KJ Hunt got back into double figures for a ninth time this year, finishing with 14 points and four assists.

Jordan Johnson added 11 points on 3-for-5 shooting.

Michael Henn tailed 10 points, his sixth straight game in double figures.
Significant Stats:
- DU had a season-high 22 turnovers.
- The Crimson and Gold dropped to 0-4 this year when allowing more than 70 points in a contest.
- The Pioneers have not won a road game since Dec. 11, 2018 at Wyoming.
Turning Point:
17-2 run over a 5:02 stretch in the first half that took Texas State from down six to up nine at 19-10.
As it Happened:
First Half:
Denver opened hot, taking an 8-2 lead to start the game after a 3 from Henn. The Pioneers kept up the good ball movement, getting four assists on its first four made field goals, resulting in a 10-8 lead at the under-16 media timeout. Texas State took the lead for good after a 7-0 run gave them a 13-10 advantage at the 14:05 mark. The Bobcat's lead expanded to nine as the run continued, forcing DU to take a timeout at the 12:26 mark trailing 19-10. The Crimson and Gold did close to within three after a nice transition layup from
Touko Tainamo made it 19-16. Texas State got its first double-digit lead at 31-21 on a layup from Shelby Adams with 2:15 to go until the half. A late scoring surge from Hunt put Denver in position to make a move in the second half, trailing 35-28.
Second Half:
The Bobcats came up with two 3s in the early minutes of the half to push the lead back into double digits at 41-30. Texas State got its lead up to 16 at 49-33 on a 3 from Isiah Small, his 10th point in the contest. The Pioneers couldn't muster up a run to make it close, as the Bobcats never let their lead drop below double figures the rest of the way, picking up the victory.
