Denver Wraps Up First Chance Invite

The Pioneers captured another seven swimming event wins on Saturday

DENVER  – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs closed out the First Chance Invite on Saturday at El Pomar Natatorium with seven more event wins to bring the weekend total up to 15.

Women's 100 Free – Erika Remington – 51.60
Women's 200 Back – Natalie Arky – 2:02.34
Men's 200 Breast – Alex Lynch – 2:02.85
Women's 200 Breast – Charlotte Simon – 2:17.25
Women's 100 Fly – Ines Marin – 55.98
Women's 500 Free – Daniela Alfaro – 5:03.07
Women's 200 IM – Emily Vandenberg – 2:06.40
 
Meet Highlights
Denver took the top five spots in the women's 100 free, led by Erika Remington's 51.60. Ines Marin finished second with a 51.74 and Aysia Leckie wrapped up the podium places with her time of 52.41.
 
Natalie Arky grabbed another win in the 200 back with her time of 2:02.34 to lead the field.
 
Alex Lynch gave Denver its second men's victory of the weekend with his 2:02.85 in the men's 200 breast.
 
Denver's women earned another podium sweep in the women's 200 breast. Charlotte Simon clocked in at 2:17.25. Brandi Vu timed at 2:20.88 to take second and Emily Vandenberg finished third in 2:21.31.
 
The Pioneer women finished in the top seven spots of the 100 fly, led by Marin's time of 55.98. Remington finished second in 57.17 and Daniela Alfaro took third in 58.00.
 
Alfaro earned an event win of her own in the women's 500 free with a 5:03.07 in the women's distance race.
 
Denver closed out the weekend taking the top four spots in the women's 200 IM. Vandenberg took first in 2:06.40, followed by Simon's 2:07.16 and Vu's 2:09.26.
