Denver used a six-goal run in the first half, including a career-high four goals from
Alex Simmons to create a cushion that it would need, leaving its BIG EAST opener with a 10-9 win over Marquette last Saturday inside a weather bubble at Valley Fields.

DI Series History
The Pioneers have won the previous 10 meetings between the two programs, with the previous meetings split five and five between the Mile High City and Rhode Island. The series started in March of 2000, an 8-7 Denver win, which is the only one-goal game in the series.

- Head coach Bill Tierney is in his 12th season with the Pioneers, holding a 139-45 record at DU and a 411-138 career record in his 37th season.
- Denver is fifth in senior class wins (2017-21) with 43, nine behind national leaders Duke.
- Yale transfer Jackson Morrill has recorded a point in 61-straight games, recording 229 points (116-113) during the stretch. That streak leads the country.
- Ethan Walker set the Denver career assist record in the first half at Marquette, passing former Pioneer Alex Demopoulos that set the previous record in 2012 with 82 assists.
- The 2021 Denver Pioneers have players from 18 different states across the country.
- Since turning Division I ahead of the 1999 season, the Pioneers have had players from 32 different states.
- Ethan Walker is second in career points with 238, 17 points behind Wes Berg for the program record.
- Walker is also third in goals with 154 (34 behind Berg).
- Last time out, Denver earned its 100th victory under coach Tierney when allowing single-digit goals (100-6).
- The Pioneers are 103-21 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, including 72-12 under Tierney.
