BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Denver women's soccer team took in-state Colorado to extra time, but lost in the 97
th minute on Saturday afternoon at Prentup Field.
Turning Point:
In an attempt to clear a cross into the box, Denver headed it into its own net to give the Buffs the victory in the Pioneers only non-conference match of the season.

Nerea Arrazola made a career-high five saves.
First Half:
Following a 4-0 win over Northern Colorado in their only preseason friendly a week ago, Denver got off to a good start on Saturday, outshooting Colorado 4-2 in the opening 45 minutes, putting three of their four shots on target. Colorado had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks in the first half.
Second Half:
Colorado had the better of the chances in the second 45, outshooting Denver 9-4 in the half.
Significant Stats:
- The Pioneers are 11-8-4 in their 23 Division I season openers.
Up Next:
The University of Denver women's soccer team will open its 16-match Summit League schedule with a two-game set against Western Illinois in Burlington, Iowa. The Pioneers will open the series at WIU Friday (Feb. 12) at 2 p.m. MT, before the rematch on Sunday at 4 p.m. MT.
