Denver Heads to Western Illinois for Two-Match Set Starting Friday

The Pioneers open Summit League play this weekend

DENVER –
Who: Denver at Western Illinois
What: 2020 Summit League opener (delayed to 2021 due to COVID-19)
Where: Burlington, Iowa (Fun City Turf)
When: Friday, February 12 at 2 p.m. MT and Sunday, February 14 at 4 p.m. MT
 
Last Time Out:
Denver took Colorado to extra time, controlling most of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, but the Pioneers watched a ball deflect off a defender and roll into their own net in a 1-0 loss in Boulder on Saturday.
 
DI Series History:
Denver leads the series against Western Illinois 7-0, winning four in Denver and three in Macomb. This match was moved to Burlington, Iowa, for use of an indoor facility. Denver has won the last three matches by a combined score of 11-0.
 
Last Meeting:
Denver 3-0 Western Illinois
A match that was moved to the Diane Wendt Sports Complex due to snow, Denver got a first-half brace from Natalie Beckman and a third from Meg Halvorson just on the other side of halftime to improve to 1-0-1 in Summit League play.
 
What's Next:
Following the two-game series with Western Illinois, the program will be back in action next weekend, hosting Oral Roberts at the Diane Wendt Sports Complex.
 
Other Notes:
  • The Pioneers return three double-digit point getters from a year ago, including Sami Feller, who scored eight goals and added two assists in 20 matches for the 2019 Pioneers.
