The top-10 showdown was originally schedule for Saturday, but moved to Tuesday for snow storm

Last Time Out
A nine goal first quarter and 12-0 run in the first half helped Denver pull away from St. John's last Saturday in Queens. Alex Simmons led the Denver offense with five goals and four assists, while Jack Thompson stopped 11 of 15 shots in his three quarters in goal for the Pioneers.
 
DI Series History
The Pioneers lead the all-time series against Georgetown 7-2, but the Hoyas have won two of the last three, including the 2019 BIG EAST Final at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Saturday will mark the first meeting where Georgetown is the higher-ranked team. Overall, Denver is 3-1 at home against Georgetown.

  • Head coach Bill Tierney is in his 12th season with the Pioneers, holding a 141-45 record at DU and a 413-138 career record in his 37th season.
  • Denver is fourth in senior class wins (2017-21) with 45, nine behind national leaders Duke.
  • Yale transfer Jackson Morrill has recorded a point in 63-straight games, recording 243 points (123-120) during the stretch. That streak is second nationally.  
  • The 2021 Denver Pioneers have players from 18 different states across the country.
    • Since turning Division I ahead of the 1999 season, the Pioneers have had players from 32 different states.
  • Ethan Walker is second in career points with 244, 11 points behind Wes Berg for the program record.
    • Walker is also second in goals with 157 (31 behind Berg).
  • Denver is 64-75 in its Division I history against ranked opponents, including 53-36 under head coach Bill Tierney. Under Tierney, the Pioneers are 26-27 against top-10 teams, including 5-6 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
  • The Pioneers are ranked seventh in the country in opponent clearing percentage, limiting opponents to 75.3 percent in the clearing game.
 
What's Next
The University of Denver men's lacrosse program, presented by Your Front Range Toyota Stores will return to the road next week to start its only two-game road swing of BIG EAST Conference play. The Pioneers will head to Villanova for a Sunday morning match-up with the Wildcats. Faceoff is set for 11 a.m. ET/9 a.m. MT.
