Grand Forks, N.D. – The Denver Pioneers volleyball team won its seventh-straight match with a 3-0 sweep of the North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Friday afternoon at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
 
Turning Point
The Pioneers turned an 11-11 tie into a 21-12 lead midway through the first set, building a foundation for the rest of the match.

1st Set
The set was last tied at 11-11 before Denver hastily built separation with an 10-1 run that made it 21-12. The Pioneers closed the set on a four-point run.
 
2nd Set
Denver controlled every portion of the set with a 6-1 lead by North Dakota's first timeout and a 14-4 lead by its second timeout. Denver went on a five-point run to make it 19-4 before the Fighting Hawks pushed back to win five of the last seven points.

3rd Set
North Dakota brought more resistance in the final set, staying within two points of the Crimson & Gold until Denver led 15-12.  The three-point deficit prompted a Fighting Hawk timeout that only delayed the inevitable. Denver went on a six-point run to close the match.

-Denver earned its sixth sweep of the season.
 
Significant Stats
-Lydia Bartalo led the team with 10 kills and recorded a double-double with 10 digs.
-Four Pioneers had a hitting percentage above .300 with five or more attacks: Brianna Green (.375), Ari Winters (.333), Erica Andrich (.333) and Tina Boe (.333).
-Ellie Anderson had a team-leading 19 assists.
-Brianna Green had a team-leading eight total blocks.
