DENVER – The University of Denver men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result to [24/RV] Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon at the Diane Wendt Sports Complex.
First Half:
Denver had 62% possession in the opening 45 minutes, but Oral Roberts outshot the Pioneers 5-1 in the first half.
The Pioneers took three of the five corner kicks in the opening frame.
Second Half:
Denver continued to control possession in the second half, but it was Oral Roberts that found the breakthrough.
Oral Roberts' goal came in the 59th minute off a Denver throw-in. Eugene Quaynor dispossessed his mark on the throw in, slid it over to Reed Berry, who took a couple touches and banked his fourth goal of the season off the far post and in.
Denver's best chance to equalize came in the 81st minute, when freshman Ben Smith got 1v1 with the goalkeeper, but was unable to find the back of the net. The Pioneers got several crosses into the box in the second 45 that were headed away, and Denver had three of its five second half shots blocked in-front by an ORU defender.

With the wins this weekend, Oral Roberts improved to 3-11 against Denver in both teams' Division I history.

The University of Denver men's soccer team will begin a five-match road swing next Saturday when the Pioneers head to Omaha. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. MT.
