[-/27] Denver Wins Summit League Regular Season with 1-0 Win at KC

The Pioneers clinch the top seed in next week’s Summit League Tournament

KANSAS CITY, Mo.  – Kaitlyn Glover's 64th minute header was the game's only goal of the match on Sunday afternoon as the [-/27] University of Denver women's soccer team wrapped up its third-consecutive Summit League regular season title with a 1-0 win at Kansas City on Sunday afternoon at Durwood Soccer Stadium.

The title is Denver's 11th NCAA DI title and its fifth in the Summit League (2013, 2016, 2018, 2019). Sunday's win also gave Denver a third-consecutive regular season title for the first time in its DI history.

First Half:
Denver's best chance of the first half came off the foot of Sydney Sharp in the 11th minute, but her attempt on goal rattled the crossbar to keep things scoreless.

Kansas City's first real peak at goal came in the 41st minute, but Nerea Arrazola dove well to her right to push it off goal for a corner.

The Pioneers outshot Kansas City 8-3 in the opening 45 minutes and 4-1 in shots on goal.

Second Half:
After continuing to put the pressure on the Roos' back-line to start the second half, the Pioneers found their breakthrough in the 64th minute.

Brittney Lewis started the scoring sequence, spraying the ball out to Alex Nillen on the Denver left. Nillen played a give-and-go with Natalie Beckman to free Beckman up down the left channel. Beckman got to the endline and played a cross into the middle of the box that was headed home by Glover for her second goal of the season and the third of her career.

Beckman earned her 12th assist of the season and the 27th of her career on the game-winner, moving her into the top-5 of Denver's DI career record book, one behind Taryn Hemmings, and into a tie for fourth in Denver's single-season record book, three behind Nicholette DiGiacomo's record set in 2010.
