FARGO, N.D. – The [45/46] University of Denver men's tennis program won all seven points in straight sets to close out the regular season with a 7-0 win over Illinois State on Saturday afternoon at the Gregory Street Courts.
Doubles:
Denver earned the doubles point with a win at No. 1 and No. 2. Matt Summers and James Davis took their match 6-0, and Mattia Ros and Peter Sallay closed out the doubles point on court two with a 6-2 win.
Singles:
The Pioneers needed just 12 sets to wrap-up the six singles matches. Davis won 6-1, 6-1 on the No. 1 court for his sixth-straight win and improved to 4-1 on the top court. Summers took the No. 2 court 6-1, 7-6 (4). Ros took the No. 3 court 6-3, 6-4, his third-straight singles victory. Sallay won on court four 6-3, 6-1. Nicolas Herrero Cuesta won his match on court five by a count of 7-6 (3), 6-1 for his team-high ninth-straight singles win. Ignacio Rivero Crespo kept his impressive play going on court six with a 7-5, 6-3 win, his seventh-straight victory in singles play.
UP NEXT:
The Pioneers will have a weekend off before hosting the 2021 Summit League Men's and Women's Tennis Championships at the Denver Tennis Park. The semifinals will be played at 9 a.m. MT and 12 p.m. MT on April 30.
