[17/14] Denver Closes Out BIG EAST Play Against Villanova This Weekend

The Pioneers and Wildcats will square off on Friday and Sunday at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium

Last Time Out
Denver completed a road sweep of Marquette last weekend, using an 11-0 run to start the second half in a 16-6 win over the Golden Eagles on Friday, before defeating Marquette 12-11 in double overtime in Sunday's game. With the win, Denver clinched its second-straight BIG EAST regular season title and its eighth Division I conference championship overall.
 
Series History
Denver is a perfect 4-0 in its Division I history against Villanova, including a 14-8 win in the only previous meeting between the two teams at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.

  • Eight different Pioneers are in double-digits in goals through the first 11 games of the season. Behrins is leading the way with 32, Eliza Radochonski is second with 26, Julia Gilbert has 18, Caroline Wiseman and Hannah Liddy have 14 and Kailey Conry, Kayla DeRose and Mackenzie Wallevand have added 12.
  • For the second straight year, Molly Little was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The grad student defender has 27 goals, 17 assists, 195 draw controls, 82 ground balls and 64 caused turnovers in 58 career games. She was named BIG EAST Preseason Defender of the Year and selected for the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team
  • Little, Radochonski and senior Sammie Morton are captains for the 2021 season
  • Little and Hoch-Bullen earned Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-America honors for the second straight year
  • Liza Kelly has a 190-72 record in her 15 seasons as DU's head coach.
  • Denver was picked 1st in the BIG EAST women's lacrosse preseason coaches' poll
  • Little was invited to a U.S. team tryout for the 2021 Women's World Championship and assistant coach Brittany Read was named to England's training squad for the championship, which was later postponed.
  • DU is first in the country in caused turnovers per game at 13.45, ninth in scoring defense (8.64) and 14th in scoring margin (5.91).
  • Amelia Cole is fourth in the country in goals against average at 7.86.
  • Kailey Conry is 11th in the country among active players in career points with 273 and second in assists (187)
