Ethan Walker broke fellow Canadian
Wes Berg's Denver DI career points record to lead the [6/5] University of Denver men's lacrosse team to a 16-6 win over Marquette on Saturday afternoon at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Denver's defense held Marquette to just 14 shots on goal in the win.
Inside the Box Score:
Jack Hannah and
JJ Sillstrop led the Pioneers with a hat trick apiece, two of 11 different goal scorers for Denver on the afternoon.
Ted Sullivan was Denver's only other multi-goal scorer, adding two to his 2021 tally. Sillstrop's third career hat trick came on just three shots, while Hannah's hat trick was his fifth of the season and the ninth of his career.

Alex Simmons,
Jackson Morrill and Walker all had two assists.
Kyle Smith had two caused turnovers and a goal from his SSDM position.
Jack DiBenedetto caused two turnovers of his own and picked up two grounders.
Colin Squires led Denver's defense on the ground, scooping up four.
TD Ierlan went 11-for-12 from the faceoff dot in his home debut, picking up five ground balls.
Alec Stathakis went 7-of-12 with four ground balls.
First Quarter:
After Marquette got on the board 61 seconds into the contest, Denver responded with the next four to end the opening quarter. Hannah's first of the day came at 11:47, followed by goals from Simmons, Sillstrop and Smith.
Second Quarter:
Marquette scored three of the first four to start the second quarter, sandwiched around Hannah's second of the afternoon. Walker's record-breaking point came with 40 seconds to play in the half, his 23
rd of the season and point 256.
Third Quarter:
Denver scored the only two goals of the third quarter. Sullivan found the back of the net with 10:19 to go in the quarter and Sillstrop found the back of the net with 48 seconds to play in the period.
Fourth Quarter:
The Pioneers scored eight times in the final 15 minutes. Sullivan opened the quarter with his second of the half. Morrill finished a Simmons feed with 12:09 to go and Cotler sniped one 99 seconds later for a 3-0 Denver spirt.
Schuyler Blair scored his first of the day and the fifth of the season to push the lead to 12-4. Hannah and Sillstrop both completed hat tricks in the final minutes and
Drew Erickson and
Sam Dwinell earned tallies in the fourth.
Significant Stats:
- Ethan Walker set the Denver career points record with the 256th of his career, scoring his first goal of the day with 40 seconds to play in the second quarter.
- Jackson Morrill stretched his point streak to 66 games, ranking first nationally in the active streak.
- Denver had 11 different goal scorers on Saturday, the 22nd time they've been in double figures since Matt Brown joined the staff as an assistant coach in 2008, including the 16th time since the start of the 2015 season.
