DENVER – The [49] University of Denver women's tennis program defeated South Dakota 4-0 in the first of two Summit League Semifinals on Friday evening at the Denver Tennis Park.
Denver's win was its 10th-straight and its 13
th in its last 14 matches.
Doubles:
Denver earned wins on courts two and three to clinch the doubles point on Friday evening.
Hada Chang and
Anna Riedmiller won their match 6-2, preceded by a 6-1 victory on the third court by
Toni Nelson and
Taylor Melville.
Singles:
The Pioneers earned wins on courts two, three and six to close out the semifinal sweep. Melville was the first to reach the finish line, taking her match in straight-sets 6-0, 6-2.
Tatum Burger made it 3-0 Pioneers with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on the No. 6 court.
Britt Pursell clinched the victory for Denver by a count of 6-3, 6-4.
Significant Stats:
- Melville improved to 9-4 on the year in singles and a perfect 5-0 on the No. 2 court, winning her last eight matches for the Crimson and Gold.
- Pursell improved to 11-3, and picked up her 10th win on the No. 3 court this year.
- Burger extended her singles winning streak to five, improving to 7-6 on the year.

Denver will play the winner of Kansas City and North Dakota in the Summit League Final on Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. MT.
