DENVER - The University of Denver community set a new all-time record for the Division of Athletics and Recreation during the Seventh Annual 1Day4DU on Wednesday, as 450 donors combined to give over $310,000 to support our student-athletes, club sports and recreational programming.
This impactful response from donors was a reminder that, as we recover from a global pandemic, Pioneer Nation is emerging stronger and more united than ever.
"I want to thank the alumni, parents, students, staff and friends of the University of Denver who participated in 1Day4DU," Vice Chancellor for Athletics, Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations
Karlton Creech said. "The 2020-21 academic and athletic year was incredibly challenging, and for our community to step up and set a new record sends a tremendous message of positivity to our coaches, student-athletes and staff. Reaching this milestone proves that, together, we can overcome unprecedented challenges, particularly one like a global pandemic. The collective generosity of our donors moves our department forward as we strive to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes."
The money raised during the annual day of giving will go directly to sport programs, strength and conditioning resources, team travel, nutrition programming, leadership development and academic support services, making a direct impact on our student-athletes' day-to-day lives.

COVID Relief Fund: University of Denver Athletics and Recreation announced the launch of the 5280 COVID Relief Fund in September, a yearlong campaign with a goal of raising $1 million that will go towards supporting divisional operating costs negatively affected by COVID-19.
