AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Denver women's tennis team fell to [2] Texas 4-0 in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center.
Doubles:
Texas took the doubles point despite a 5-4 lead on the No. 2 court for
Anna Riedmiller and
Hada Chang when the doubles point was clinched.
Singles:
The Longhorns earned singles points on courts three, four and six to clinch the match.
Taylor Melville played a tight first set on the No. 2 court against the No. 35 player in the country, in Anna Turati, but lost it 7-5. The 122
nd-ranked Riedmiller took her first set against No. 37 Peyton Stearns to a tiebreak before the match was clinched on other courts.
Up Next: Anna Riedmiller will represent the Pioneers in the 2021 NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championships, May 23-28 in Orlando, Fla. Riedmiller's draw in the tournament will be released at a later date.
