Sunday Derby Day: Pioneers Host Buffs in Colorado Derby

Denver and Colorado clash at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium Sunday at 1 p.m. MT

DENVER – The University of Denver women's soccer program hosts Colorado for the 36th installment of the Colorado Derby on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT. Sunday marks the 26th Division I meeting between the two programs.

Last Time Out:
With a chance to break the deadlock in the 20th minute, Sami Feller hit the woodwork and Natalie Beckman had her rebound stopped by the Washington State keeper, a match the Cougars eventually won 2-0 on Thursday night at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
 
Denver vs. Colorado Series History:
Colorado leads the series 16-8-1 since the Pioneers turned DI in 1998. The Buffs have won the last nine meetings between the two programs, which comes after a stretch of Denver winning five out of six from 2008-13. During the losing streak, seven of the nine matches have been decided by a single goal. Denver is 5-6-1 at home in its DI history against Colorado.
 
Notable Stats:
  • Denver has scored 22 goals from 12 different players to start the 2021 season. Sydney Sharp leads the way with five goals, followed by three apiece from Riley Baker and Kaitlyn Glover. Natalie Beckman and Ella Frost round out the multi-goal scorers with two apiece.  
  • The Pioneers 12 different goal scorer's marks the most since 2013, when Denver had 13 different players find the back of the net. Denver's school record for different players to score in a season is 18 in the 2006 campaign.
  • Career Points Record Update: Feller has 75 career points, putting her seventh in Denver's DI record book. Beckman has 70 career points, moving her into a tie for ninth.  
  • Career Assists Record Update: Beckman has 34 career assists, two off Kristen Hamilton's 36 career assists and five assists off co-record holders Nicholette DiGiacomo and Jamie Norwood. Feller has 21 assists, good for ninth in Denver's DI record book.
  • Career Goals Record Update: Feller has 27 career goals, good for eighth in Denver's DI history.

Denver closes out non-conference play at San Diego next Saturday (Sept. 25) at 8 p.m. MT.
