CORVALLIS, OR --The Denver men's basketball team kept Oregon State to just 34.7 percent shooting from the field, but fell 57-52 to the Beavers on the road Wednesday.
The Pioneers (9-5) had three players score in double figures, led by Touko Tainamo, who had 10 points. Lukas Kisunas added 10 points and eight rebounds and Tommy Bruner chipped in as well with 10 points, four assists and two steals.
Denver forced 13 Oregon State turnovers while committing 12 themselves in Wednesday's game. The Pioneers turned those takeaways into 14 points on the offensive end of the floor. Ben Bowen led the way individually with three steals.
How It Happened
After jumping out to an 8-5 advantage, Denver went on a 6-0 run with 10:41 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Bruner, to increase its lead to 14-5. The Pioneers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 20-18.
After intermission, Denver came back to even it up at 38-38 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Marko Lukic's layup, to seize a 46-38 lead with 4:54 to go in the contest. Oregon State then asserted control, outscoring the Pioneers 19-6 the rest of the way to hand Denver the 57-52 loss. Denver took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 34 points in the lane.
