DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team (1-4) dropped another tight match to a power-5 program, a 5-2 result to No. 25 Baylor on Friday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park.
 
Doubles:
Tatum Burger and Toni Nelson got over the line first on the No. 3 court with a 6-3 victory to improve to 2-3 as a duo this season. Denver and Baylor were level 5-5 on the other two courts, but the Bears got late breaks on both courts to secure the doubles point.
 
Singles:
Baylor picked up straight sets wins on courts four, five and six to clinch the victory on Friday afternoon. Anna Riedmiller played a tight match on court one, but fell 6-4, 7-5 to give Baylor a 5-0 lead.
 
The Pioneers won the final two matches of the day. Britt Pursell closed out a quick three-set match on court three, winning her fourth match of the season 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Taylor Melville won her match on court two for her first singles win of the campaign, taking her match 2-6, 7-6 (10) and 12-10 in the super tiebreak.
 
Up Next:
Denver will have the rest of the weekend off before heading to BYU next Friday for a 10 a.m. MT match. The Pioneers will follow that up with a trip to Utah on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT.
