DENVER – The University of Denver men's tennis team defeated Metro State 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Denver Tennis Park.
Doubles:
Denver got the doubles point after wins on courts one and two.
James Davis and
Matt Summers got a 6-1 win on the top court followed by a 6-1 win on the for the No. 2 court out of
Peter Sallay and
Charlie Miller.
Singles:
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta lost just a game in the No. 1 singles match for the Pioneers, taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Davis was the next over the line, winning his match 6-1, 6-1. Sallay finished third at 6-2, 6-0, followed by a 6-0, 7-6 (5) win from Summers.
Mattia Ros won 6-2, 6-3 on court four and
Charlie Miller rounded out the points for the Pioneers with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win on court six.
UP NEXT: Denver will hit the road next week for a pair of matches in Lubbock, Texas. The Pioneers will take on Tulsa in a neutral site match on February 25 before battling the host Red Raiders of Texas Tech next Saturday at 12 p.m. MT.
