ST. PAUL - The University of Denver men's basketball team put on one of the best shooting performances in program history, taking out St. Thomas 91-80 in the Schoenecker Arena on Thursday. The Pioneers picked up the season sweep with the victory.

Jordan Johnson led the way with 18 points and seven assists. The Memphis native was deadly efficient all night, going 7-for-9 from the field (4-for-4 from 3).

Coban Porter continued to showcase his shooting talents, dropping in 18 points that were highlighted by making four from beyond the arc.

Touko Tainamo recorded his third double-double this season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Â

Tevin Smith (12) and
Michael Henn (10) also finished the night in double figures for scoring.
Significant Stats:
- The Pioneers 66.7 percent shooting was the best the team since a win against USC Upstate back on Dec. 9. 2017.
- Denver's 11-for-18 performance from beyond the arc was its best since a 93-69 win at Oral Roberts on Jan. 31, 2017.
- DU improved to 3-0 this year when scoring at least 90 points in a contest.
- Denver record hits double-figure wins for the first time since the 2017-18 season. Â
- Pioneers get second season sweep of a Summit League foe, first time since 2017-18.
- Denver's 62 second-half points were the most by the team in a half this year.Â

First Half:
Henn started strong for the Pioneers, scoring the first four points by working in the low block. Denver got its first lead of the game at 7-6 after a 3 from
Taelyr Gatlin, his first points of the night. The Tommies hit a run shortly after to build a three-point at 19-16 by the 6:43 mark in the opening half. The Crimson and Gold got the lead back after back-to-back 3s from Porter made it 26-25 with just over two minutes left in the half. St. Thomas was able to hold to the lead, heading into the half up 31-29.
Second Half:
The Pioneers opened the final 20 minutes of regulation on fire, knocking down their first six shots as part of a 15-5 run to take a 44-36 lead at the 14:57 mark. Johnson kept the hot shooting going, drilling some tough 3s to make it 54-49 DU midway through the period. Pioneers then stepped on the gas and separated for good, pushing their lead into double figures on a 3 from Porter with 6:41 to go made it 71-59. Despite some good shooting from the Tommies, Denver was just simply not missing from the field in the half, never allowing the nine the rest of the way, securing the win.
