PHOENIX – The University of Denver Women's Golf team opened the first round Ping/ASU Invitational on Friday, finishing tied for 11th. The Pioneers shot a team score of 297 (9-over) in the highly talented field.

- Host No. 9 Arizona State leads the field through 18 holes at 8-under on the team leader board.
- The Sun Devils' Alexandra Forsterling is first on the player leader board after shooting a 6-under 66 on day one.
- The 16-team field features 12 teams ranked in the top 50 in the most recent Golfstat rankings.
Inside the Round for the Pioneers:

Alyson Bean was the Crimson and Gold's top performer in the round, shooting an even par 72, that featured four birdies in the round. Bean sits in a tie for 17th after day one.

Anna Zanusso fired a 2-over 74 on the round to end in a tie for 36th heading into moving day on Saturday.

Clara Gestsdottir went 3-over on the round, putting her in a tie for 45th.

Anna Krekling opened her tournament with a 76 (4-over) on Friday, resulting in a tie for 58th.

Katarina Drocarova wrapped up her opening round tied for 79th at 8-over.
