OMAHA – The University of Denver men's tennis team won its third-consecutive Summit League regular season title, its seventh in the Summit League overall and its eighth Division I regular season title in program history with a 7-0 win over Omaha on Sunday afternoon at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
Doubles:
Denver took the top two courts comfortable to secure the doubles point.
Matt Summers and
James Davis earned a 6-3 win on Denver's top court, while
Charlie Miller and
Daniel Krulig earned a 6-0 victory on the middle court.
Singles:
The Pioneers took all six singles points in 12 sets. Davis took his straight set win on Denver's top court by a count of 6-4, 6-4. Davis is now 10-5 on the year in singles play.
Nicolas Herrero Cuesta earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court two. Herrero Cuesta's victory was his sixth-straight singles win for the Crimson and Gold, improving to 14-3 on the year.
Summers earned yet another two-point day with a 7-6, 6-2 win on court three. The Denver graduate student continued to stay a win ahead of Herrero Cuesta, improving to 15-4 on the season with his eighth-straight win.
Peter Sallay took his match comfortable on court four by a count of 6-3, 6-2. Sallay went to 9-8 on the season with the victory.
Daniel Krulig won 6-4, 6-1 on court five and
Charlie Miller won 6-2, 7-6 (4) on court six. Krulig improved to 8-6 and Miller went to 9-3 on the year.
UP NEXT: The Pioneers will close out the regular season next Saturday when Denver welcomes Illinois State to the Denver Tennis Park. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. MT.
