Kisunas Reunites with Wulbrun; Joins Denver for 2022-23

Graduate Transfer from Stanford set to join Denver for upcoming season

DENVER  - University of Denver Men's Basketball head coach Jeff Wulbrun announced the addition of Lukas Kisunas on Monday. Kisunas has signed his athletic grant and aid to continue his academic and athletic career for the Pioneers.

"We are thrilled to bring a player into our program with Lukas' experience," Wulbrun said. "He has spent four years competing against some of the best frontcourt players and teams in the country. At 6-foot-10 and 265 pounds, he was one of the strongest players in the Pac-12 and will have an opportunity to be a powerful presence in the Summit League as a low post scorer, rebounder and defender."

"He will, without a doubt, have a significant impact on our team next season. We spent three very enjoyable years working together at Stanford and it will be wonderful to reunite with him at the University of Denver. He will get his bachelor's degree from Stanford this spring and work on his master's degree at DU next year."

Kisunas brings size and physicality in the post for the Pioneers not seen in a while. At 6-10 and 265 pounds, Kisunas will immediately help solidify the interior defense and rebounding for the Crimson and Gold, allowing them to get out in transition more.

At Stanford, Kisunas appeared in 114 games, making 21 starts over four years. This past season, he recorded three games in double figures, highlighted by a season-high 11 points at Colorado on Nov. 28. He posted a double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds) at Washington on Jan. 15.

In 2020-21, Kisunas appeared in 26 games, making 14 starts.

While playing for the Cardinal, Kisunas was not just a factor on the court but in the classroom, being a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll member.

Denver will return to the hardwood in the summer to begin training for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
