NEWTON, Kan. – The University of Denver women's golf team got the right start in their quest to for a third straight Summit League Championship on Sunday, finishing first at 4-over as a team.
Anna Zanusso powered the way for the Pioneers, finish first through 18 holes at 4-under (68), tying a season low for the year.

Significant Stats:
- Denver did its damage on the par 5s, posting the best team average at 4.95, 1-under.
- The Pioneers hold a seven-shot lead over Oral Roberts.
- Zanusso highlighted her dominant day by shooting 4-under on the par 5 holes, best in the field.
- The Crimson and Gold's birdie total of 13 was second most in the round on the day.
Inside the Round for the Pioneers:
- Zanusso's 68 was her fourth round in the 60s this season and also was the second best round shot at Sand Creek Station in the Summit League Championship.

Anna Krekling put herself right in the hunt on day one, finishing tied for second after firing an even par 72 on the afternoon.

Clara Gestsdottir was solid in her first postseason round of her collegiate career, tying for eighth at 3-over.

Alyson Bean shot a 5-over to put her in a tie for 16th.

Katarina Drocarova wrapped up her day tied for 29th at 7-over.
