Denver Wins Seventh Summit League Title

The win for the Pioneers was their 17th Division I conference tournament title and their third-straight Summit League crown

NEWTON, Kan. – The University of Denver women's golf team captured its 17th Division I Conference Tournament title by 21 strokes as the Pioneers combined for a six-over (294) on Tuesday to finish the tournament at 871 (+7), breaking the Summit League record by seven strokes this week.
 
Junior Anna Zanusso won individual medalist honors, winning by five strokes with a Summit League record three-under 213.

Significant Stats:
  • The conference championship is the Pioneers 17th since turning Division I in 1999 (9 Sun Belt, 1 WAC, 7 Summit League)
  • The championship is Denver's third-straight Summit League title and its seventh since joining the league in 2013-14.
  • Anna Zanusso's 213 broke the individual low score held by six different players including Pioneer trio Jessica Carty, Sophie Newlove and Mary Weinstein
  • Denver's 871 broke the team scoring record by seven strokes, originally set by the Pioneers in 2016 (878).
  • The Pioneers now hold the top three and four of the top five lowest tournament scores in league history.
Inside the Pioneers Round:
  • Zanusso shot a four-over 76 in the final round, but cruised to the five-shot win.
  • Anna Krekling finished runner-up in the tournament with a two-over 218 after her two-over 74 on Tuesday afternoon.
  • Alyson Bean shot the join-best round of the day for the Pioneers at even-par (72), to finish in a tie for fourth in the tournament at six-over (222).
  • Clara Gestsdottir finished in a tie for fourth with Bean at six-over after her four-over 76 on Tuesday.
  • Katarina Drocarova joined Bean at even par on Tuesday to move up seven spots to 12th in the final round at 10-over (226).
