DENVER – The University of Denver hockey team's
Ryan Barrow was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team on Thursday.
Barrow, who was in his fifth season with the Pioneers in 2021-22, had a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average as an undergraduate in finance and sported a 3.91 GPA this past year as a graduate student in applied quantitative finance.
The Banff, Alberta, native has been named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and has been recognized as an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete in all five seasons at DU (2017-2022).
On the ice, Barrow posted career highs in goals (eight), assists (13) and points (21) in 2021-22 while helping Denver win its record-tying ninth national championship. He appeared in his school-record 168th career game with the Pioneers in the NCAA Championship Game on April 9 versus Minnesota State and jumpstarted a five-goal run by scoring the game-tying goal early in the third period.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
