CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The University of Denver women's golf team was recognized for its dominance in the classroom, being named a
WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award winner on Wednesday. The Pioneers posted a 3.856 GPA as a team for the 2020-21 season.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
The Pioneers finished sixth on the list for the highest team GPA in all of Division I. New Mexico led all of Division I with a 3.961 team GPA.
"I am so proud of how our team did in the classroom and on the golf course this year," head coach
Martha Richards said. "To have six players be WGCA Academic All-Americans and to have our team finish sixth overall in the WGCA Team GPA rankings is so impressive especially when you look at the caliber of the University of Denver academically.
"To see what these student-athletes are majoring in and their performance in the classroom while playing golf at such a high level, it is just so phenomenal."
The sixth-place finish by the Crimson and Gold ties for the highest in program history, set back in 2016.

Alyson Bean,
Anna Krekling,
Katarina Drocarova,
Emma Bryant and
Clara Gestsdottir.
The Pioneers are coming off capturing their seventh Summit League Championship and 20th straight NCAA Regional appearance this past year.
