DENVER – University of Denver hockey alum
Ryan Barrow has signed a professional contact with the Manchester Storm of the Elite Ice Hockey League in England, the club announced on Friday.
Barrow continues his playing career after helping the Pioneers win the NCAA National Championship during the 2021-22 season, while posting career highs with eight goals, 13 assists and 21 points. He scored the game-tying goal in the national championship game on April 9 against Minnesota State, sparking a five-goal run in the third period to lead Denver to its record-tying ninth title.
The Banff, Alberta, native appeared in all 41 outings last season and set the school record for career games played by suiting up in his 168th contest in the national championship game, surpassing the mark of 167 that was previously held by Ed Cristofoli (1985-1989). He also finished the campaign ranked fourth on Denver with a 16.3 shooting percentage.
Barrow concluded his five-year collegiate career with 26 goals and 39 assists for 65 points. He was an alternate captain on the squad in each of the previous two seasons (2020-2022).
Prior to joining the Pioneers, Barrow spent two seasons with the Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League, totaling 88 points (34g/54a) in 102 career games.
Based in Greater Manchester, England, the Storm are preparing for their seventh campaign in 2022-23. The EIHL was founded in 2003 and is the highest level of pro hockey in the United Kingdom, featuring 10 clubs.
