DU Women’s Soccer Travels to Utah for Season’s First Road Match

Denver set for first Power-5 matchup of 2022

LAST TIME OUT:
DU posted its second straight shutout to begin the 2022 season, topping Weber State 2-0 at home on August 21. Junior McKenna Dannenhauer opened the scoring early off assists from graduate student Sami Feller and sophomore Jadyn Goodrich in the eighth minute. Senior Kaitlyn Glover added another from Denver in the 76th minute with feeds from sophomore Ella Frost and junior Addisyn Hyrup.
 
QUICK HITS:
  • Redshirt senior Nerea Arrazola earned Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week honors following her back-to-back shutouts to start the year.
  • Arrazola now owns 22 career shutouts, fifth most in DU history. Her two wins moved her to sole possession of fifth most in program history at 33.
  • Feller had the primary assist on both of Denver's game-winning goals during opening weekend.
  • Denver went 144 minutes before allowing its first shot on goal of the season; and through two matches played, Denver has yet to give up a corner kick.
  • Thursday's match is DU's first of four against Power-5 opponents in 2022.
SCOUTING THE UTES:
DU is 1-2-0 all-time against Utah, winning the most recent match-up 3-0 in Denver on August 26, 2021. The team's have not met at Utah since September 11, 2005, a 1-0 win for the Utes.
 
Utah scored a 3-0 win over Colorado State at home on August 21. Three different Utes scored in the game: Madeline Vergura, Courtney Brown and Brooklyn Blaylock.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
DU returns home on Sunday, August 28, to host Arizona State at 12 p.m. MT.
