Pioneers Sign Seven Incoming Freshmen for 2022-23 season

Denver hockey class includes Kent Anderson, Tyler Haskins, Tristan Lemyre, Rieger Lorenz, Lucas Olvestad, Aidan Thompson and Jared Wright

DENVER – The University of Denver hockey program announced today it has signed seven incoming freshmen for the upcoming 2022-23 campaign.
 
The seven players include two defensemen in Kent Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) and Lucas Olvestad (Stockholm, Sweden) and five forwards in Tyler Haskins (Rochester, Minnesota), Tristan Lemyre (Mirabel, Quebec), Rieger Lorenz (Calgary, Alberta), Aidan Thompson (Fort Collins, Colorado) and Jared Wright (Burnsville, Minnesota).

Kent Anderson | Defenseman | Calgary, Alberta
6-3 | 205 lbs. | Green Bay Gamblers (USHL)
 
Before Denver:
Appeared in 62 games with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League in 2021-22, recording 28 points (2g/26a) and 18 penalty minutes and was named to the USHL All-Rookie Second Team … Played two seasons with the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL from 2019-2021, totaling 29 points (6g/23a) in 68 games … Limited to just 10 games and served as an alternate captain on Drumheller in 2020-21 (2g/4a) … Registered 23 points (4g/19a) in 56 contests and had four points (1g/3a) in five postseason outings with the Dragons in 2019-20 … A product of the Calgary Northstar organization.

Recorded 45 points (20g/25a) in 52 games with the Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League and registered seven points in 12 playoff contests in 2021-22 … Finished third on Madison with 20 goals … Participated in the 2022 BioSteel All-American Game … Spent most of the 2020-21 campaign with the Sioux Falls Stampede and garnered 27 points (9g/18a) in 51 contests … Played three games with the Capitols in 2020-21 as well … A product of the Chicago Mission and the Rochester Youth Hockey associations … Won a silver medal with USA Hockey's Under-17 Select squad at the 2019 Five Nations Tournament in Fussen, Germany, registering four points (3g/1a) in four games … Skated at the USA Hockey Select 15 and 16 Development Camps.

Played two seasons with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League, totaling 87 points (42g/45a) in 107 career games … Scored 29 goals and added 21 assists for 50 points in 57 contests with Dubuque in 2021-22 … Had an assist in two playoff games that season for the Saints … Registered 37 points (13g/24a) in 50 games with Dubuque in 2020-21, while also appearing in two postseason outings … Picked up 30 goals, 32 assists and 62 points in 44 contests with the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in 2019-20 … Named to the SJHL All-Rooke Team and the league's Rookie of the Year that season … Product of the Nord Selects organization in Quebec and represented the club in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament in 2013-14.

Played two seasons with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League from 2020-2022 … Led the Oilers in all three scoring categories during the 2021-22 regular season, registering 38 goals, 47 assists and 85 points in 60 games and added a team-high 11 points (2g/9a) in 14 playoff contests … Earned the AJHL's Rookie of the Year honor while also being named the Canadian Junior Hockey League's Top Rookie … Also named to the AJHL's All-Rookie and All-Star Teams (South) … Recorded four assists in four games with Team Canada at the 2022 IIHF U18 World Championship … Had two goals and an assist in seven games with the Oilers in 2020-21 … Played two seasons of prep school hockey with the Edge School from 2018-2020, earning U18 top freshman accolades in 2019-20.
